Dentures are appliances which are used to replace teeth that are missing and also their surrounding tissues. Complete dentures and partial dentures are the two types available. Complete dentures are made to replace all of your teeth where as, if some natural teeth remain, partial dentures are used. Your dentures are designed to look just like your natural teeth so there should be minimal change to appearance, if any. In some cases, dentures will actually improve your smile! Complete Dentures
The complete denture is an appliance which is used to restore both the function of the mouth and the smile when all of the natural teeth are lost. They are unique to each patient and are designed to look just like natural teeth. These dentures are usually removable and do need minor adjustments to ensure a snug fit with both the mouth and gums.
Partial Dentures
The partial denture is employed in cases where there are some natural teeth still in place, either in the upper or lower jaw. This appliance will restore the function of the mouth by replacing missing teeth with prosthetic ones attached to a natural looking plastic base. Just like complete dentures, they can be installed permanently using a cement-like compound.
